Linda Lee Filener
Linda Lee (Reed) Filener was born in Pendleton, Oregon. She lived most of her
childhood on the Imnaha (em-nah-hah) River in North Eastern Oregon.
Linda's family is very musical. Her brothers Dan, Tom and Tim are very
active with their music and the jammin' lasts til the wee hours when Linda has a
chance to make a visit back home. Her mother and step father used to play for
Grange Hall dances on the Imnaha River and often got together and jammed with other folks
along the
river including, Lloyd "Tommy" Doss of the Sons of the Pioneers
who at the time owned the Imnaha General Store, one of 3 businesses in the town
of Imnaha. The other businesses included Hotel 3, named so because there were
only 3 rooms and a cafe/gas station. There was also a Post office (postmistress
Naomi Doss, Tommy's wife), and a 2 room School house across the river,
where Linda went to school. There was 21 kids from the 1st thru the 8th grade.
Linda and her family moved around quite a bit during her teenage years and
worked with her family on several different cattle ranches, some of which were
the RAF Ranch (upper Imnaha river), Bensons (lower Imnaha River). The Bar Heart
Ranch (Drake, AZ - 27 miles north of Prescott). The Flyin' M Ranch on the
Anderson Mesa (Twin Arrows, AZ - 20 miles east of Flagstaff and 18 miles south).
Later she lived on the D5 Ranch at Twin Arrows, AZ where her Son and Daughter
and their families still ranch today. One of her most exciting memories was
Hazin wild cows for Monk Maxwell on the Walkin' J Ranch near Winona (Wy-no-nah)
AZ.
Today her and her husband Casey run cattle on their ranch north of Cortez,
Colorado in Yellow Jacket.
Linda plays music for a local dance club on Thursday nights and at the American Legion
Post # 75 on Friday nights, as well as campouts, reunions, receptions and get togethers'
at the areas RV parks.
